10 Things To Do In London - April 2018

Struggling to find a motive this April? Maybe you're still off work/uni and want to find something popping to do during this Easter break? Then look no further because I've got you covered! I've rounded up 10 of the most interesting events April has to offer in London, along with the odd curve ball in case you feel like trying something new. So whether you're into baking or ball pits, why not take a look to find the perfect event for you?

1. Drunk Jenga Speed Dating

Where? Nordic, Fitzrovia (just off Oxford Street), 25 Newman Street, W1T 1PN

When? Wednesday 4th April, 7:30-11:00pm

What? "With speed dating now taking over the country, it can be boring and tedious just getting to know each other over a drink...why not try something new, fun and exciting with drunk jenga?"

If... you want the opportunity to meet new people, and even potentially find Mr/Mrs Right, this is the event for you. Navigate your way through a series of ice breaker questions, and potentially a few dares, written on each jenga block. You MUST be 23-35 years old to participate!

2. Sshhh! Popcorn & Party: The Launch

Where? Rolling Stock, Shoreditch, E2 8DN

When? Ongoing (every first Thursday of the month)

             Next event: Thursday 5th April, 6:00-2:00am

What? "Classic old skool movies, 90's games and consoles, and a throwback party." The movie of the month is Friday - starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker (1995). Come along for a chilled night of nostalgia, and for the chance to top it off with a throwback party playing all of your favourite hits from the 90's/2000's.

If... You love old school RnB and are a master of retro consoles and board games, come along to put your skills to the test.

3. R'n'Brunch

Where? Red Rooster, 45 Curtain Road, Shoreditch, EC2A 3PT

When? Saturday 14th April, 12:00-5:00pm

What? "A brand new brunch party from London's flyest ladiest of RnB and Hip-Hop...DJ Emily Rawson (1xtra), DJ Ellie Prohan, DJ Fearney and Sandra Omari." Check out their instagram here.

4. HS91: Unplugged - Lauryn Hill

Where? Thousand Island, 20-22 Highbury Corner, N5 1RA

When? Sunday 15th April, 7:00-10:00pm

What? "HS91: Unplugged is a night of purely acoustic music, paying homage to 90's Hip-Hop and RnB extrodinaires...Relive the amazing MTV Unplugged live experience as four singers and one guitarist take the stage to perform a tribute to the queen herself."

If... you simply love both Lauryn Hill and live music, this is the perfect combo.

5. NANG

Where? Ace Hotel London, 100 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JQ

When? Friday 13th April, doors open at 10:00pm

What? "Nang redirect the composition of modern day music...the people that make you feel comfortable to let the sweat drop mid dance. Expect everything from Hip-Hop and RnB, Afro and Bashment to Grime and Garage to activate the party." Come an experience an all female line-up shut down Ace Hotel!

6. Vegan Baking Class - Greenwich Pantry

Where? Prendergast Vale College, Elmira Street, SE13 7BN

When? Friday 20th April, 6:30-8:30pm

What? "No dairy, no eggs? No problem! From chocolate nutty cookies to banana and coconut cakes, we'll satisfy your vegan self in this two hour baking session."

If... you're a vegan looking for a new sweet treat to try, an avid baker looking for a recipe to add to the collection, or just an amateur who is looking for something new to attempt - this is it!

7. Ballie Ballerson - Student Night

Where? 97-113 Curtain Road, Shoreditch, EC2A 3BS

When? Monday 23rd April, 6:00-12:00am. Book your ball pit time slot, no need to book for the bar!

What? "A ball pit cocktail bar with one million balls, retro sweetie cocktails and damn sexy food!"

If... you want the chance to unleash the inner child in you by clowning around in a ball pit with some mates and generally just having a laugh, then this is definitely the place for you. There will be DJ's on deck, playing the hottest deep house and disco music. So if the ball pit isn't your thing, come through for the music and the drinks. 8. Milkshake; Ministry of Sound - The Return (1xtra Takeover)

Where? Ministry of Sound London, 103 Gaunt Street, Elephant and Castle, SE1 6DP

When? Tuesday 24th April, 10:00-4:00am

What? "The official return from spring break... 3+ rooms, £3 drinks, a special Radio 1xtra guest host and DJ, smoke machines, outside bar, no cheap thrills LED walls and of course the capitals largest sound system."

9. Akala

Where? 02 Shepherd's Bush Empire, Shepherd's Bush Green, White City, W12 8TT

When? Friday 27th April, doors open at 7:00pm

What? "Breaking new ground with a unique approach to Hip-Hop in the form of theatrical storytelling, Akala will showcase his newly released Visions Comic Book EP, as well as playing songs from his acclaimed, decade spanning, back catalogue.

10. Catford Food Market

*disclaimer* I may have saved the best until last here, considering Catford is where our studio is based we all have a bit of a soft spot for the area. 

Where? Catford Broadway, Catford Road, London

When? Ongoing, (every last Sunday of the month)

             Next event: Sunday 29th April, 10:00-4:00pm

What? "A monthly food market, showcasing shopping and eating in Catford Town Centre. Each month brings art and books, as well as completely free events such as music, craft skills for kids, community cooking, meeting the makers and a range of seasonal interests. 

If... you want to taste something new, explore an area close to our hearts, or even volunteer as a stall holder/assistant - the opportunities here and vast and varied, so get involved!
